Be the Change You Want to See in the World

For some reason, ever since I was young, I’ve had an unquenchable thirst for truth. One form this took was a fondness for good quotes – little bits of wisdom that one could ponder over for lengths of time. My thirst only seems to have grown as I’ve gotten older. It’s like having a drink of “awareness” and the more you drink of it, the more you thirst for it.
The Internet has changed, and will continue to change, the world we live in; this idea is nothing new. I can be writing these words anywhere in the world, and anyone with access to the internet can be reading this. As of September 30 2007, approximately 1.24 billion people are online, or 18.9% of the world’s population, according to Internet World Stats. It’s a phenomenal thing when you pause to think about it. Information and ideas can now travel at light speed around the globe.
“With great power comes great responsibility.”
- Uncle Ben to Peter Parker (Spider Man) in first Spider Man movie 2002
Each of us has a voice, a spirit, a flame, a power. Each person on this planet has the power to do more good than our parents’ generation could have ever imaged. The question we each have before us is what are we going to do with that power?
The answer?
“Be the change you want to see in the world.”
- Mahatma Gandhi
So, what change do you want to see in the world?
